Day/Date Interceding According to the Mind of Christ
Wed
1/12/2010
Luke 2:7And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn
This month we travel to the manger and meditate on how the Lord of all creation chose to be born in the midst of creation, a cave for His home, the warmth of the animals to keep away the cold, a manger for His crib. Let us ask Him to give us the grace to forsake greed and wisdom to overcome our selfish attitude, causing the present perils of global warming and disruption in global climate conditions
Thu
2/12/2010
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased
Let our Christmas celebrations be one where we open our festivities to the Prince of Peace – Christ our Lord. May we put Christ back into our celebration giving Him all the glory, honour and praise that is due to Him and Him alone. As we pray, ‘Come, Lord Jesus and fill my heart with Your peace’, let us pray specially for our Catholic Gymkhanas and other organizations that plan events and activities this festive season, that the focus is on Jesus rather than fun and revelry which could lead many, specially our youth, into sin
Fri
3/12/2010
Matt 16:26 For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life
Feast of St. Francis Xavier, principal patron of our Archdiocese. Through his intercession, may the Church see her role as proclaimer of the Good News to unbelievers in word and deed, that the Gospel be relevant to those seeking the truth. We pray for misguided youth focussed on making money and career their god; may the truth set them free. We also pray for boldness, wisdom, discernment and compassion for all those involved in the Proclamation Outreach praying with non-Christians every Sunday at Mt Mary’s Basilica, Bandra
Sat
4/12/2010
Rom 8:22 We know that the whole creation is groaning in travail together until now
Pope Benedict XVI’s theme for World Day of Peace was: If You Want to Cultivate Peace, Protect Creation. Let us pray that we take the Pope’s message to heart: ‘Respect for creation is of immense consequence, not least because ‘creation is the beginning and the foundation of all God’s works’, and its preservation has now become essential for the pacific coexistence of mankind’ and pray that all men may become sensitive to the threats arising from the neglect – if not downright misuse – of the earth and the natural resources God has given us
Sun
5/12/2010
Rom 8:21 Because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God
Second Sunday of Advent. We lift up to God the degradation of the environment by some groups of peoples who exploit the environment; may we as Christians reflect today on the message of our Pope on World Peace Day - For this reason, it is imperative that mankind renew and strengthen ‘that covenant between human beings and the environment, which should mirror the creative love of God, from whom we come and towards whom we are journeying’, and pray that as we protect the environment it reflects our love for the Creator who we will meet one day
Mon
6/12/2010
Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling
Feast of St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him; through his intercession we pray that God gives us a generous heart this season and always, to reach out to widows/orphans and those in need, bringing cheer to their lives. May we always remember that ‘God loves a cheerful giver’.
Tue
7/12/2010
Rom 8:19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God
In his Encyclical Caritas in Veritate, Pope Benedict XVI notes that integral human development is closely linked to the obligations which flow from man’s relationship with the natural environment. Let us pray that world leaders and policy makers from every nation may see the environment as God’s gift to all people, and that the policies they make benefit all men especially the poor, knowing the responsibility they have as stewards of natural resources which are to be shared with all humanity, especially the poor, and future generations
Wed
8/12/2010
Luke 1:48 For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed
Feast of the Immaculate Conception - In the Apostolic Constitution ‘Ineffabilis Deus’ of 8 December, 1854, Pius IX pronounced that the Blessed Virgin Mary ‘in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin’. We pray we too, by grace, may be kept from sin now and at the hour of our death. Pray that those who are ensnared in sin and vice may experience the liberating love of Jesus
Thu
9/12/2010
Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation
” I am your merciful mother, the merciful mother of all of you who live united in this land, and of all mankind, of all those who love me , of those who cry to me, of those who seek me, of those who have confidence in me.” Feast of St. John Diego, to whom our Lady appeared in Mexico City as Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her apparition was the turning point in the Americas where thousand upon thousand were baptised and came to the knowledge of Jesus. Through her intercession, we pray for our city to experience the saving power of the Gospel and come to the knowledge of Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Ps 8:4-5 When I look at your heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and the stars which you have established; what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him
Contemplating the beauty of creation inspires us to recognize the love of the Creator that Love which ‘moves the sun and the other stars’ – extract from the message of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for the celebration of the World Day of Peace. Let us pray for atheists, especially among the intelligentsia, that as they behold creation, they may recognize God as the author of it all.
Sat
11/12/2010
Col 1:5 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation
We pray for all those displaced, those people who are forced by the degradation of their natural habitat to forsake it – and often their possessions as well – in order to face the dangers and uncertainties of forced displacement. Many have become ‘environmental refugees’; may we not close our eyes to their plight but join hands with those engaged in fighting these human rights issues, so that the rights of the affected people may not be trampled upon. Let us rise in prayer and action
Sun
12/12/2010
Isa 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined
Third Sunday of Advent. Also the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of America. In 1531, a ‘Lady from Heaven’ appeared to a humble Native American at Tepeyac, a hill northwest of what is now Mexico City. Through her intercession we pray for the youth of America that they may be enlightened, be saved from the ills and excesses of their culture and offer their lives in the service of the church. Pray for the leadership in America that they lead the developed economies, by example, in reducing their carbon footprint and emissions

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse
(Source:LINK) What happens to your plastic bags and your disposable coffee mugs, mug caps, disposable forks, knives, spoons, plates, boxes and all the other plastic that you throw away on a daily basis? Consider these statistics: Over time they break down into smaller, more toxic petro-polymers (CNN). Some end up in land fills. Plastic bags find their way into the sea via sewage pipes, choke and kill coral reefs by blocking sunlight, birds become terminally entangled (World Wildlife Fund), Plastic bags account for over 10% of the debris washed up on the Coastline. Pray that God would enlighten our hearts and minds to use items that need not be discarded on a daily basis, but those that can be re-used repeatedly. Lord begin with me

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them
Biblical Revelation made us see that nature is a gift of the Creator, who gave it an inbuilt order and enabled man to draw from it the principles needed to ‘till it and keep it’ - Extract from the message of his holiness Pope Benedict XVI for the celebration of the world day of peace 1 January 2010. Let us pray that man would act as God’s co-worker rather than setting himself up in place of God, thus ending up provoking a rebellion on the part of nature, and thus bearing its adverse consequences. Let us also pray that we would exercise responsible stewardship over creation, to care for it and to cultivate it
Thu
16/12/2010
Gen 1:31a And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good

We pray for a disposition of humility during this season of Advent. That we may not be caught up in the glamour and glitz of life, but that we may shed our pride and egos as we prepare our hearts to welcome the Lord who was born in a stable.

30/11/2010 John 1:41 We have found the Messiah
As we celebrate the Feast of St Andrew the Apostle, we pray for the burden of evangelizing/re-evangelizing our own households. Following the example of Andrew who introduced Peter to Jesus, may we bring the joy of an encounter with the Lord, to our own brothers and sisters, our own parents, children, relatives, our colleagues, neighbours and within our larger family – the world. May the Holy Spirit, the chief agent of evangelization, give us the grace to witness by our lives, that we be true bearers of the light and not counter-witnesses.
Holy Father’s Intentions for the Month (Pray for these intentions daily)
General Intention:That victims of drugs or of other dependence may, thanks to the support of the Christian community, find in the power of our Saving God strength for a radical life-change.
Missionary Intention: That the Churches of Latin America may move ahead with the continent-wide mission proposed by their bishops, making it part of the universal missionary task of the People of God.

1/10/2010 1 Cor 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God
Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Virgin and Doctor, Patroness of the Missions. Saint Therese of the Child Jesus preferred the anonymity of the cloister. She never went on ‘missions’, never founded a religious order, never performed ‘great works’. In the brief 24 years that she lived on this earth, her graces touched the lives of so many. She was devoted to simplicity and the accomplishment of small dutie, in the service of God. In this month dedicated to the Missions, we ask God to give us the grace to offer all the things we do during the course of the day, however small and insignificant they may be, for the salvation of the world and the strengthening of His Church. This month we focus our prayers for missionary work, with a specific emphasis on the Americas. We also focus on praying the Rosary, that it may once again be a time of prayer to bring the whole family together. Let us also pray specially for missionary work in our nation

Amen

As the church celebrates the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Founder of the Franciscans - we pray through his intercession that the youth in the Americas may have an experience, like him, of renouncing worldly values to follow Christ. We also pray very specially for youth animators in parishes all over the Americas that they would be role models, another Christ for the youth to imitate. For this XLIII World Day of Peace, Pope Benedict VI has chosen the theme: If You Want to Cultivate Peace, Protect Creation. As St. Francis is also the Patron Saint of Ecology and the Environment, we pray for our city and world suffering from pollution and global warming
Tue

Today is pro-life Day; say this prayer for United States of America which is in the clutches of a culture of death, that God would reverse this anti-life attitude - Father, we beg Your blessing for the Right to Life, the Unborn, the weak, the sick and the old; all who are finding themselves being targets of the vicious culture of death; that our Lord Jesus bless and protect all who stand up for the Christian dignity of persons. Enlighten those who are traveling down death’s highway by their involvement, in any way, with either the contemporary death culture, selfism, relativism, or any of the new age errors of our times. Help America to turn from the sin of abortion and return to Christ, and once again become a Christian nation, on the narrow road, that is, the path to becoming a nation and culture under God. Amen

Do join us in saying just a one line prayer, every day of the month. Each prayer backed with a special line from the Bible. We KNOW that prayer changes things, do join us in making a positive change in the world we live in!
Day/Date Interceding According to the Mind of Christ
Sun
1/8/2010 Psalm 110:4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest for ever according to the order of Melchizedek.’
This month we focus our prayer on two key themes – for our priests and for true freedom that the Holy Spirit gives us. This week we pray for our priests. Today we pray that our priests constantly reflect upon the indelible character of the sacrament of Holy Orders, which cannot be repeated or conferred temporarily (CCC#1582). We pray that each priest truly lives in this blessed knowledge and assurance
Mon
2/8/2010 Rev 2:4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first
We lift up priests from our Archdiocese and across the world; that God would give them grace to seek Him above everything and to come back to their first love - that they would be filled with compassion be other Christs to the flock, filled with a gentleness and meekness to encourage the weak and the wayward back to Christ and filled with a revelation and trust that Christ is with them to the end of the age
Tue
3/8/2010 Jer 3:15 And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding
As we lift up our priests to the Lord, let us pray that He fills them with the spirit of knowledge and understanding to be true shepherds to the flock, living out their lives with a spirit of self sacrifice, penance and prayer - feeding the faithful with the Bread of Life and the Word of God, binding the wounds of the hurting and encouraging the flock to walk in holiness and a close relationship with Christ
Wed
4/8/2010 Matt 9:38 Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest
Feast of St. John Mary Vianney; through his intercession let us pray for vocations in our Archdiocese and for holy priests, as we address the Father in prayer through Jesus His Son - My Dear Jesus, you desire that we pray the Lord of the harvest that He send zealous laborers into His harvest. Deign to raise up in your Church, and especially in this diocese, numerous and holy priests who, taking your Divine Heart as their Model, will, in the exercise of their holy priesthood, promote the glory of your heavenly Father and the salvation of those souls whom you have redeemed with your Precious Blood. Give us truly holy priests who, inflamed with the fire of your Divine love, seek nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us a number of holy priests
Thu
5/8/2010 1 Sam 3:10 And the Lord came and stood forth, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant hears
Pray for a spirit of holiness and self denial for our diocesan seminarians who have joined the Seminary this year, namely; Joel Fernandes, Leander Gonsalves, Rosario Fernandes, Mattew Joseph, Jean Justine, Charles D’Cruz, Savio Lobo, Sanjay Fereira, Cajetan Rodrigues. Pray that they are filled with a spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, so that they would build their ministry on Christ the Rock
Fri

A day of fast and prayer for our priests and especially our Cardinal Oswald Gracias. May the Lord continually strengthen and empower him with His Spirit. May his motto “To reconcile all things in Christ” inspire all our priests in our Archdiocese to lives of service, justice, reconciliation and bridge-building through the intercession of Mary. On the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord, we pray that each person in our Archdiocese truly strives to be transformed into another Christ, so as to witness to this city by our love and our lives.
Sat
7/8/2010 Matt 18:18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven
“We now ask, why the drop in Confession? Hearing confessions place a heavy demand on the generosity of a priest. To tell not just one sin, but all of them and, if they are grave, with all their attending circumstances, this takes time. And on the part of the priest it takes a lot of patience. The priest must be convinced that it is worth the effort”, writes Fr John Hardon SJ. Pray for our priests- for grace to preach the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, to freely give their time at the confessional and the grace to frequent the sacrament himself
Sun
8/8/2010 Heb 7:26 For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens

For too long we have allowed ourselves to live in bondage – in our relationships with God, others and ourselves. Today we pray for freedom for ourselves. For those of us bound in habitual sin – lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and the pride of life, that the Holy Spirit will set us truly free
Tue

Thu

We pray for a true spirit of servanthood and discipleship among each one of us, that we may count the other better than ourselves and actively seek to be at the service of the other, however painful it may be at times. It is hard – but the Spirit helps us in our weakness. Through the intercession of St. Maximilian Kolbe, whose feast we celebrate today and who gives us a wonderful example of Christ-like selfless love, we also pray that God may grant our priests a spirit of self denial and fortitude to grow in holiness
Sun
15/8/2010 John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me
As we celebrate Independence Day, we remember with gratitude to God, the freedom won by people who sacrificed much, some at the cost of laying down their lives. May God give wisdom to our politicians to plan our city so that the infrastructure is not overburdened and that open spaces are spared for recreation and sports
Thu
19/8/2010 John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you
We pray for Christian marriages and homes across our Archdiocese, that Christ be the center of the home and that time is devoted daily to family prayer and sharing of the Word. May our homes truly be the domestic Church and may fruit be borne in us and in our children
Fri
20/8/2010 2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching

On this day, the Feast of St. Pius X, we pray for all seminarians and those preparing for religious life; through his intercession we pray that the years our seminarians spent studying philosophy and theology would only lead them to appreciate Christ more deeply as the only Lord and Saviour and that they receive a new revelation of growing in faith and understanding of His love for them as they study His Word.
Sun

Mon
23/8/2010 Rom 8:18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us
This week we pray for the suffering Christians/Churches in the Middle East; they trace their roots back to the first Apostles, but over the years the local Christian community has shrunk, and even disappeared in some areas. Pray for freedom to worship and build churches, for protection of the churches, homes and lives of the Christians in the region, for perseverance for the churches to witness for Christ even in difficult circumstances and for their non-Christian neighbours to have a better understanding of what Christianity is and to be led to Christ
Tue
24/8/2010 Ps 31:5 Into thy hand I commit my spirit; thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God
We read about Catholic bishops murdered in Iraq and Turkey, machete-armed fanatics attacking Egyptian Copt worshipers, churches torched in Hamas-controlled Gaza. Gen 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters
This month we focus our prayer for the continent of Europe. Once the wellspring of missionary zeal and deep spiritual discipline, it today finds itself plunged in pride, love of self and the things of the world - hedonism, materialism, paganism and every kind of occult practice and sexual perversion viz. fornication, adultery, live-in relationships, legalization of same sex unions, prostitution, abortion, contraception, etc. With faith and hope in our hearts, let us pray this month that the Spirit of God would transform the chaos and darkness that has engulfed Europe, to a thirst for the Living God. Let’s consecrate Europe and the Church in Europe to Our Lady of all Nations (Amsterdam) and pray the prayer she gave Ida Peerdeman (Alkmaar, Holland) for the conversion of the world - Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the earth. Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all nations that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster and war. May The Lady of All Nations, who once was Mary, be our advocate. Amen. This prayer is to be said before a crucifix.
Fri
2/7/2010 Ps 69:30 I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving
A day of prayer, fasting and thanksgiving for all the blessings we, the church of Bombay and India, have received mainly from the missionary efforts of Europe’s sons and daughters who came here as missionaries amidst many hardships - leaving home, family and loved ones, often never returning to their homeland, only to proclaim the fullness of the Gospel. We thank God for the many saints Europe has given the church, whose example of holiness is for us to imitate. They have not only helped build the Church, but also contributed to the world at large. Let us thank God for the contribution of Europe to the world, in the field of science, medicine, engineering, music and art. As we thank God for the European missionaries still living amongst us, we pray for their good health and that their work bears lasting fruit
Sat
3/7/2010 John 20:28 Thomas answered him, My Lord and my God
Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, also called Doubting Thomas or Didymus. He was perhaps the only Apostle who went outside the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel. He also crossed the largest area, which includes Persia and India. St. Thomas patron of India, pray for us that we would be filled with the same zeal you had to preach the Gospel. Through his intercession, let us pray that God would once again raise many young missionaries to re-evangelize Europe and spread the Good News to the ends of the earth, both from within Europe itself, as well as missionaries from other countries, especially India – where St Thomas himself brought the Good News
Sun

We also lift up Fr Terrance Murray and the staff of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre that prepares the programs and material for our Sunday school children as well as our Sunday school and religion teachers; may the Holy Spirit guide them so that our children, nourished and grounded in God’s Word and the Sacraments, would be equipped not only to face the many challenges that come their way but would grow in love for Jesus. We pray through the intercession of St. Saint Bridget of Sweden, Patron of Europe, mystic and founder of the Bridgettine Order, that God in His mercy would grant the gift of faith to the people of Europe to see the height, breadth and depth of God’s love in Jesus
Mon
5/7/2010 Luke 23:34 And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do
Albania had 45 years of harsh, isolationist communist rule that ended in 1991. In the past 10 years the people have experienced anarchy and poverty; It is possibly the poorest country in Europe, corruption, including drug and human trafficking, dominates the economy. The materialistic belief that possessions provide security is strong and growing, and often leads young people into lives of crime. Pray through the intercession of Blessed Theresa of Calcutta for the people of Albania that the Lord would deliver them from all their miseries
Tue
6/7/2010 Ps 104:30 When you send forth thy Spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth
After the Ottomans conquered Bosnia & Herzegovina in the 15th century, many people became Muslims, mostly because they received benefits for converting. Most of the Bosnians are Muslims; many of the Serbs are Orthodox Christians, and the Croats are mainly Roman Catholic. When one thinks of Germany, Martin Luther and the Reformation come to mind. Many middle-aged and older Germans have given up on the Church, and young people believe that the Church’s teachings are irrelevant. Let us Catholics not harbour bitterness due to the schism caused by Martin Luther - which split the Church and have given way to many schisms which even continue to this day. Pray for a spirit of holiness and fear of the Lord in the hearts of our German brothers and sisters. Saint Boniface, patron saint of Germany, pray for a new spiritual awakening among the people of Germany. May the work of ecumenism and Catholic Apologetics be guided by the Holy Spirit

Pray through the intercession of St John of Suceava, that Moldova be delivered from this terrible scourge

Tue
1/6/2010
1 Pet 3:15 But in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence
Feast of Saint Justin Martyr (100–165 AD), an early Christian apologist and saint. We bring to the Lord our shepherds and lay faithful in the church, especially those exposing erroneous teachings in matters of faith and morals and also those cautioning against the dangers of the new age philosophy that is slowly gaining acceptance. Pray for the apologetics ministry in our Archdiocese and The Family of Faith Foundation (FFF), that the Lord would bless their efforts. This month we focus our reflection on the ‘heart’ of Christ and the Christian heart – each scripture verse contains the word ‘heart’ to show how precious we are to the heart of God and how much He desires to dwell in our hearts. This week we prepare our hearts to celebrate worthily the ‘Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ’, reflecting on different parts of the Mass, the ‘heart’ of Christian worship. Today we reflect on the ‘Penitential Rite’; let us offer the Eucharist asking for mercy for those who have strayed away from the faith, specially those living in serious sin, that they would once again come back to Christ
Wed
2/6/2010 Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God
Today as we reflect on the ‘Liturgy of the Word’, ask God to give us a revelation that His Word has the power to heal the sick, deliver those in bondage, save the lost, raise the dead to life again, convict the sinner, give comfort to the hopeless, etc.. May we be blessed with the gift of praying the Psalms daily. Let us offer the Eucharist today that God would make us instruments of the power of His Word to bring healing, deliverance, conviction, faith and hope to those seeking the truth. Feast of St. Peter and St. Marcellinus - two Roman martyrs who suffered under the Diocletian persecution, about the year 303; the first was an exorcist, the second a priest. Through their intercession we pray for the persecuted church in the State of Karnataka that God would give them a firm resolve to stand for Christ
Thu
3/6/2010 James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts
Today as we reflect on the ‘Offertory’, let us offer in the Eucharist all the priests as the close of the Year for Priests nears, that they would offer their lives to the Lord in surrender to His loving will, knowing that His will bring peace, joy and fresh enthusiasm to become other Christs. Feast of St Charles and companions, he was one of 22 Ugandan martyrs who converted from paganism. Through his intercession, pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our Archdiocese and for the persecuted church in Uganda and other parts of Africa

Today in prayer and fasting reflect on the ‘Our Father’ – Offer this Eucharist that God would establish His kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven, where brotherly love and concern would govern every member in the Body of Christ and that others seeing this would be drawn to Jesus, the true Bread of Life. May we fast and pray for the gift of being able to forgive truly and sincerely from our hearts
Sat
5/6/2010 Col 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful
Reflect on the ‘Sign of Peace’ – Let us offer the Eucharist today that we in the Body of Christ would know that peace is a gift from the Lord won for us through the cross, and having received it, we would spread it to those around us. Feast of Saint Boniface, a Benedictine monk, born in England. He was consecrated the first bishop of Germany after only four years of preaching there. He organized the Church in this area. He was martyred while preaching among the Frisians. We ask through his intercession that the materialist, hedonist and the ungodly part of society of Great Britain would return back to Jesus. Pray the Rosary for vocations to the priesthood in Europe

Feast of Corpus Christi. We pray for a renewed love for the Eucharistic Lord, that by sincerely and fully participating in the Eucharistic Meal, we may become more and more like Christ daily. Denton Jr. recounted his seven years and seven months as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War in his 1975 book, ‘When Hell Was in Session’; made into a movie in 1979. Eph 6:2- 3 Honour your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth (Deut 5:16)
We pray for the Victorious life for homes faced with the problem of rebellious children… in fact in some cases parents are even terrorised by their own children. May there truly be a return to love and forgiveness and a healing of all hurt that may have caused this behaviour. May our children seek the Lord first in their life and honour their parents with the grace and strength that the Merciful Lord provides

Gen 22:14 The Lord shall provide (Jehovah-jireh)
We pray for the Victorious life for ourselves, that God will supply all our needs – spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and material. Not as we desire but as per His will. We pray for a deeper relationship with the Risen Lord and His Word, as 1 Cor10:13 tells us that God is faithful and He will not let us be tempted beyond our strength but will also provide the way of escape that we maybe able to endure it

Judges 6:24 The Lord is Peace (Jehovah Shalom)
We continue to pray for the Victorious life for ourselves guided by the various names of God in Scripture – that we will truly experience peace. In a life of chaos and constant strive may we find an oasis of peace at the feet of the Lord. We pray with the words of Rom 5:1 that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have obtained access to share in the victory and glory of God. We especially remember Bishops Percival Fernandez and Agnelo Gracias as we remember their anniversary of being ordained Bishops

Ex 15:26 God the Healer (Jehovah Rophe)
We pray for the Victorious life for ourselves, especially those racked with pain and sickness. May we seek from the Divine Healer the restoration and healing of our spirit first and approach Him with confidence and surrender for our physical, mental and emotional healing. We pray with confidence in the words from 1 Pet 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds we are healed.

Jer 23:6 The Lord is our righteousness (Jehovah Tsidkenu)
We pray for the Victorious life in our times of guilt and shame by seeking the reconciling love of the Father in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. May we always be assured of the Lord’s mercy and move forward rather than be stuck in a rut of self-pity and excuses. We pray in the words of Rom 6:13 that we do not yield as instruments of wickedness, but yield ourselves to God as children who have been bought…as instruments of righteousness

We pray for the Victorious life in our times of deep darkness. May we always be assured of the Lord’s presence with His crook and staff. We lift up the youth who have strayed like sheep and pray for their return to the Shepherd & Guardian of their souls; that they avoid the thief who only wants to destroy and hear the Shepherd’s voice and follow Him who assures them of life in all its abundance

We pray for the Victorious life in our striving for holiness. Each of us is called to be holy and perfect as our Heavenly Father. Ex 17:15 The Lord is my banner/victory (Jehovah Nissi)
We end this month as we pray for the Victorious life in all spheres of our lives – our Church, our families and ourselves. We pray for the Victorious life in our struggles in life – be it in our spiritual struggles (with sin/sinful habits) or material struggles (in our careers, studies, business, etc.). Just as the Israelites were successful in battle when Moses held up his hands to the Lord, may we learn from this and stand steady and firm through continuous prayer through all of our life’s battles, so the Lord may take over and fight the battles for us. We pray with the words of Col 2:15 that the Lord disarms the principalities and power through the triumph of His cross
Holy Father’s Intentions for the Month (Pray for these intentions daily)
General Intention: That every tendency to fundamentalism and extremism may be countered by constant respect, by tolerance and by dialogue among all believers.
Missionary Intention: That Christians persecuted for the sake of the Gospel may persevere, sustained by the Holy Spirit, in faithfully witnessing to the love of God for the entire human race.

1/3/2010 Luke 22:42 Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will but yours be done
Lent is a time of grace – a good time to meditate on ‘grace’. Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help that God gives us (CCC1996). All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself, by the ‘saving’ cross of Jesus; saving us from the powerful grip of sin. Unfortunately, the world today seems to have lost the sense of sin. This month we focus on prayer based on a scriptural Way of the Cross (used by Pope Benedict XVI last year and prepared by an Indian, Thomas Menamparampil, S.D.B., Archbishop of Guwahati) – We focus on a few stations each week, praying for a renewed abhorrence to sin. FIRST STATION: Jesus in agony in the Garden of Olives. We pray that when faced with the choice of good and evil, we may have the grace to die to self and choose in line with the Father’s Will
